Hello,

My lifelong dream has come true! My debut book is now available at The Wild Rose Press www.thewildrosepress.com

It took awhile, but it is now a reality. TOO LATE FOR ROMANCE? by L. M. Gonzalez, yours truly, is now available in digital format.

I really enjoyed writing this story about Matt and Gloria, two people who accepted their lives as they were and were content, or so they thought. That is, until the day they met over Gloria's dying rosebushes. As the "roses bloomed, love blossomed", but not without its ups and downs.

I hope you enjoy reading this story and come back for more. By no means, is this the end of Matt and Gloria, I hope.

Please let me know how you like it.

L.M.

Working on Revisions

Posted by lesmora at 10:55 AM on March 07, 2007 Comments comments (0)

Hi all,

I received the first round edits on my story from Wild Rose Press, now titled TOO LATE FOR ROMANCE? on February 23. I have 30 days to complete these. They're not so bad, mainly changing the use of passive verbs and adding description of characters and settings. I'm bad about that I've discovered. I can see my characters and know exactly where they are, but I have to learn to convey that to my readers.

I'm excited to be on this part of my writing journey, to actually be working on a book that will be published. My sisters kid me, asking 'Who'd have thought it?' When I was a child, I used to get cereal boxes, oatmeal boxes, anything with words and copy those words down even though I didn't know how to read. When I started first grade, I didn't know a word of English. During junior high (or middle school) I spent my summers collecting recipes, writing them down and, of course, trying them out. All my life I've kept a journal. In 1976, I wrote my first story and I haven't stopped since. Words are my friends. Knowing that someday soon someone will read my story, and, hopefully enjoy it, is a dream come true.

My stories are about Americans of Mexican descent because that's who I am. However, people of all types fall in love, think it's too late to fall in love, or have given up on love. I want to write for these readers. My hope is that after they read my stories, they will feel uplifted, that nothing is impossible. If love can find a 40-something woman, then love can find you.

Finished My Book!

Some months ago, I entered a writing contest through The Wild Rose Press. The editors liked my story so much that they asked me to expand it into a book in October, 2006. On February 5, I finished it and sent it off. Afterwards, I felt as if I had returned from another world. For the past few days, I've been piddiling around not sure what to do. I finally decided I would read the big pile of unread books that has been forming.

One of the first books I read was "Moon Pies and Movie Stars" by Amy Wallen. I recommend this book to everyone, about three South Texas women who journey to Hollywood on a Winnebago and their adventures, tears and laughter. They even get to be in the audience of 'The Price is Right', the longest running game show on T.V.

I know that revisions are next with my book, but in the meantime I'm going to enjoy these days and also start working on another book.

Talk to you later,

Lupe

Researching Roses

Posted by lesmora at 03:10 PM on September 14, 2006 Comments comments (1)

Hi all,

I'm working on a story for a contest through The Wild Rose Press http://www.thewildrosepress.com/. It has to feature a flower garden in a central way. I thought that a rose garden would be just the thing, but like the heroine, I don't know anything about gardening, much less growing roses. So, I did some research. And, I found some good articles on the Home and Garden TV Show website.

For a long time, I was hooked on this show. Loved 'Sensible Chic' (where you can decorate your rooms in a fashionable way on a budget) and 'Mission: Organization' (where you can get organized, room by room), two shows that are featured on there.

For more info on home and gardens and especially roses, go here: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/gl_plants_roses/0,1784,HGTV_3612,00.html

Various articles detail how to grow roses, when to plant them, how to take care of them and how to cut them.

Must go now to finish my story and submit it - tomorrow!

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my writer's journey,

After reading my bio, you'll know that I have been on this journey ever since I was 13 years old. The actual trek toward publication didn't start until May 2001. And even then, I felt that I needed to learn my craft before I submitted stories.

Now, five years later, I'm still trekking. And sometimes getting frustrated and, so far, always getting rejected. I admit the first submissions I sent, before joining a writer's organization, deserved rejection. Some just got to the wrong editor's desk at the wrong time.

I am published, though. An article of mine was published last year on Physicians Assistants, a local magazine, Scene in SA. http://www.scenepublications.com/

My goal is to submit more articles and get those published while I continue to wait on publishing my books.

Les
